They have a brand in the US called 'Wolfs Head' oil.  I wonder how many wolf heads you have to squeeze to get a litre??

Didn't believe me, did you.

oil appears to be more of a problem now days ,and when diesel trucks get cat converters  there will be even less oils with ZDDP ....a great excuse to change over to a roller cam :)

I have been using Pennzoil since i have opened my business but they have recently pulled out of the Australian market. I have done an extensive research on what to replace it with and have decided on Penrite.
Their HPR 30 is the highest content in ZDDP in Australia.
I have found this is the most suitable for older generation big bore V8's with flat tappet cams.
But like Ausmonza suggested it is time to convert to roller cams. They are becoming more and more affordable. Just about every engine i build these days gets a roller.

only race type oils have high zinc levels [but they are not street legal]because zinc some how destroys the longevity of catalytic converters, so hence to be compliant with au rules zinc levels are lowered. Not good news for flat tappet motors
I even emailed Nulon about their race oils and zinc , they gave me a round about answer 2 weeks later that said yes zinc is lower now[but did not tell me their content] and check with the engine builder and parts supplier to see if their race 15/50 would be suitable for my pre 80 model chev.I thought they might have said something along the lines of yes zinc is low but instead we have?
Amsoil for me

Return to an old thread. I'm still using and racing on 30 weight Gulf Western diesel oil with no failures.
