:way: Mick, with 64 cars they split the odds and even numbered cars. Being #7 Mick went out in the odds class, the track was wet and still sprinkling, he qualified 17th, to say he was disappointed would be an understatement. The even # cars went out 4 sessions later and the track had a dry line by now. They were to combine the times and place them in division one and division two. As the other session was dry most cars from the first qualifying were placed well down the order. Mick would have been placed in division two about position 5. The stewards of the meeting decided that Mick, Paul Stubber in another Camaro and Des Wall in the Geoghegan Mustang would not race in division two and placed them in division one from the rear of the grid.
Race 1- From the start Mick got a blinder and by half way round the track he had picked up 17 spots and with each lap he passed more cars and ended up finishing 4th.
Race 2 - From position four he had a Mustang, Porsche and Charger if front of him and at the start he blasted past them all to be in position one, he had a few cars length on Stubber in the Camaro and he was chasing Mick down. He passed Mick down the straight on the last lap, at the next corner he over braked and spun and Mick took position one back and had a good easy run to the finish line in first place.
The grandstand was cheering as the race was close and there was some exciting action going on the whole time.
Tomorrow he will start on pole position which is unbelievable seeings that he was at the rear of the grid for the first race.
You rock Mick - best of luck tomorrow....
See you at the track tomorrow hopefully for the same action that we saw today.
:fantastic:
Cheers Yvette
