CliveRand:
Hello everyone, My name is Clive, and I have found in so many cases it is a good thing to join forums, as they have so much information that has been a huge help to so many people with their projects. I have not started mine yet as I am getting too old to keep starting something from scratch, and this time around I am only looking at keeping my next project to restoration, rather than to modify, or at least not to modify too much. I will post a bit more later on, Thank you.

Clive.:hello:

69DirtyRat:
Hi Clive, what are you thinkin of gettin?

CliveRand:
I am looking at getting a 1979-81 Trans am, I like the turbo hood on that model, and I am looking at a white one like the pace cars, without the writing on the doors but I am not sure about the turbo. I know nothing about them, and someone has advised me to stay away from them unless I intend to get a new wiring harness for under the hood. I was told they get so hot under there the insulation around the wiring gets baked hard then falls to bits and then we have a short, I am however a bit reluctant to take it as gospel, after all we always get feedback from those who have never had such vehicles, claiming to know it all. that is the very reason I join forums now, at least on these forums you can get some proper advise from people who really do know.

ozpont on this forum has a turbo one, he's always crapping on about how fast they are! (but I just laugh at him) hopefully he will chime in!

Yeah, but you're talking about 2 different animals.  Dave's car is a 1989 model, 20th anniverary Trans Am.  It has a turbo charged Buick V6 and is a genuine 150 mph car in stock trim.
