Radiator Hose Spring
« on: March 18, 2017, 10:01:27 AM »
Hi Chris,
can you advise if I need to install a spring inside the bottom radiator hose on my '80 small block corvette to prevent the hose collapsing?
I'm replacing the current home made hose, pipe, hose arrangement with a one piece silicone hose.
I can't seem to find any definitive info if a spring is needed or not.
Thanks
Glen

Hi Glen,
Spring is usually recommended with factory hose, however if you are running a hi-flow thermostat it is not nessessary. With a silicone hose you will not need one due to the more rigid design.
Cheers, Chris.
