Title: tired of Tyres...
Post by: Zoltan on December 06, 2019, 10:53:53 PM
Hey there.
I'm looking for some 245/50/16 tyres and have tried various brands in the past, none of which have been great... and now they seem to be near impossible to find -

I've had Federals, they where very good in the dry, very bad in the wet.
I've had Falken, they where just simply bad, I took them back within a week. Even the Falken Australia rep said they where not suitable.
I currently have Sumitomo tyres, they where good for the first year or two (with low kms)

Any ideas where I can get some good tyres at this size?

You could try the Tyre Business that sponsors the club - BesTyre Campbelltown.
Go down and see Mick - he will listen to what you need and source them according to price, or stickiness, or wear or whatever your preference is.
I bought 255/60/15s off them last week.  Not on the car yet, so I cant comment on handling etc just yet.

16 inch tyres are a bit of a problem full stop,( i just went to 17,s on my C4 Corvette) , If you get a set of 17x8 inch or 18x8 inch rims from a vz Commodore the offset is only 7 mm (offset of 48 not 55) different and should work for you, then finding tyres will become a lot lot easier, who knows you might even find a good second hand set with tyres
