Title: 79 Trans Am seat rocks
Post by: Bale9 on October 02, 2014, 09:52:24 PM
My Trans Ams seat rocks back and forth more than what I think it should.

At the top of use seat it will move around 10 - 15cm...

Not sure if there is anything mechanically wrong with it in the locking mechanism or if it's just bushes in the seat. Maybe it's normal?

What do you guys think.

Have a look at the pin the seat back frame rests on that sticks out of the seat base inner side...there should be a plastic bushing over the metal pin. Most of the bushes crack and fall off over the years...the seat backs get loose and tend to bend towards the centre of the car.
The bushes are available......if you can't find them from suppliers here in Australia, the ycan be brought off Ebay and the like. Ford F100 tail gate bushes are the same size....apparently.

They look like this....

Of course, its not unknown for the frames to be cracked, too......

My 77 does the same as well on the passenger side.

Makes a shocking rattle noise.

Your a legend Leigh.

Another thing to save up for.

Thanks for posting this issue.
