Title: When are you open over the Christmas Period?
Post by: sms777 on April 04, 2011, 11:33:17 AM
Hi everyone!
Registering your recent import just became a breeze.
As from today SMS Performance is a fully accredited RTA inspection station issuing roadworthy certificates including blue slips.
This means you can bring your vehicle straight from the shipping yard to us and will leave our shop with full registration. We can take care of headlight swaps, seatbelt issues, any modification that may be required to pass blue slip, full safety inspection and written report on any outstanding repairs.
I can take care of your weigh bridge ticket, even supply you your green slip through QBE all without leaving my workshop.
How good is that? No tricks, no bull just good old fashioned honesty and hospitality.
Hope to see you soon.  :rub:

Cheers, Chris.

Can you do blue slips on LPG?

Don't know if that is a special blue slip station or not?

What about a 53 Chev Truck on Duel fuel?

Sorry Greg, no LPG. I do not want to overwork myself.
Dual fuel maybe as long as the gas is disabled at time of inspection and register it with petrol only. After that it is only an adjustment of records if you want LPG added.

Cheers, Chris.

Hi guys. According to the RTA tech line I require an Engineering Signatory (this is a general import not a personal one) to certify compliance with ADRs for that year.

Any comment?

Don't mean to be rude but it would be helpful if you give us a bit more info so we know what we are talking about. There are hundreds of different ADR's depending of year of manufacture also if it is commercial vehicle, passenger vehicle, motorcycle, trailer, caravan, etc.

I've got a print out of ADRs with their introduction date...its all available on the net.
It let me work out if I had much to comply with...luckily, 1971 was before a lot of the rubbish ADRs started to appear.

heres a list of ADRs for older vehic;es and the date of implimentation...you can print the PDF files.

Thanks Leigh, you are great help. The problem is that lots of blue slip guys misinterpret the rules because they simply do not understand it themselves fully and give you false guidance.
Especially when it comes to imports they get worried how to approach and instead of politely tell you to go somewhere else they come up with some p#ss poor excuse that you need an engineers report.
I have been doing this ever since the scheme was introduced many years ago and up to date with it so if you need correct guidance I am more than happy to help.

Cheers and Merry Christmas to all  :xmas:

Thanks very much....I've got a local guy who's done a friend's 81 GMC pickup and it all went well...if I get stuck, I'll flat bed the car over to you for a blue slip.
I hope to have mine on the road by the middle of 2012....once it comes out from the paint shop next month, theres just wiring and trim to do.

Hey Chris, I'm sorry for not bringing the 71 vette to you a few  weeks back, there just wasn't enough hours in the days prior to Christmas.

Mate are you taking a break over Christmas and is your workshop closed? If so when are you back open for business, I have some time off and would like to get the car blued and registered whilst I have the time if I could:fingers:

Cheers
Steve
