Title: Body change Pontiac GP
Post by: 68 GTO on January 30, 2011, 04:08:34 PM
Hi Guys,

Anyone done a body change on a full chassis car before? My 69 GP is too far gone and I have sourced a 70 GP.......any help?

Hi Grumpy
I have done a few in the past. By memory there are 12 body rubbers to the chassis which will have to be replaced with new ones. Undo all wiring going through firewall, disconnect all your heater and aircon hoses, undo steering column from steering box, remove front and rear bumpers, than simply lift body high enough to roll complete chassis with running gear intact from underneath.

Having it on a two post hoist makes it childsplay

Yeah no hoist saadly but a forklift should help :-)

Will be making sure both the chassis and body are well protected before reassembly.
