HI Alan.. as the organizing for the Camaro-Firebird & US Muscle Car Nationals in Tumut is  happening.
No money is needed yet.. its being financed outside of entry funds.
Entry forms out later October.. Currently entry nominations on www.cfusnats.com (http://www.cfusnats.com)  are in the high 70's from SA, VIC, ACT & NSW.
Those who have just confirmed an entry nomination online  will be sent the  details as soon as available.
Can say more about it but will slow down till a lot more is  locked into place.
It will be the largest active Muscle car event for US vehicles probably yet in Australia.. in a very good town..at a time of year most can get away for more then a day or two.

Going down to Tumut again this weekend.. for a sorta pub crawl....
Going over a few of the 6 routes being explored on Sunday and the spot venues.. like Talbingo, Adalong, Eastern Gundagi, Tumbarumba, about 8 pub lunch venues.. Gold panning, NPW talks, Talbingo Hot Springs if you have never had an open sauna..
Booked to do a Fly Fishing demo too..(https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR9DvO86611ZNM1B-sQZi4MxyLdbqNQnBXUawSrkzN3zMAhgrm4[/img  never done it before.. and seeing if its viable for anybody that can get involved can have a go Sunday as part of the day out...

Yarranganobilly Caves, [img width=200 height=267]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/24/YarrangobillyCaves.jpg/200px-YarrangobillyCaves.jpg)
Airport precision Driving course (Subject to approval) Railway history,

Gold fields   (http://members.westnet.com.au/coolies/cooleys_creek/images/adelong_gold_falls.jpg)

There's other things on too in this Drivers Drive..

A "clover leaf" of runs to choose from eminating from Tumut  that are easy for 2-3 hr exploring the western side of the Kosiosko National Park. Need to find about 6 good pubs that will open over Easter Sunday for or are open for brunch, lunch & afternoon dinner in the country on Sunday.

Plan is to keep it an easy day but keeping people out of Tumut till the late after noon when the closing event happens..

Current $ budget for Camaro Firebird & US Muscle Car Nats is between $25,000 & $35,000 - and not for profit..not even  to have a hope in hell of breaking even... but will be hopefully be a one off memorable run for all in the Camaro-Firebird / Muscle Car community that can be involved.

We have marked up on the web site..(www.cfusnats.com (http://www.cfusnats.com)) in the Motels section.. as requested.. recommended motels with better then average parking room and facilities better suited to club groups etc..

Just back again tonight from 36 hrs in Tumut.. Location of the Camaro-Firebird & US Muscle Nats.

I Know its not an OFFICIAL AMCCA club run.. but all members are welcome..

But.. what a constructive weekend.. .. even if 50% of what was negotiated this weekend goes ahead.. its will be TWICE as good.. twice the things to do and see .. then we have ever been given chance to do.. Its not without detail and some cost to the organizational budget.. but can't take it with you. This image below.. its also a link the Area has to the USA strangely enough.. the imported USA Sugar Pine trees...this photo below is of a few acres.. about 40kms out of Tumut..planted in 1926...
A photographic Eden.. and when you walk to the top.. as I did today.. its another view..to remember.

Our trees are only about 90 years old.. in the USA.. they last up to 800 years..   You can walk this walk.. it serene..  You can walk this walk.. its serene.

There is a lot more going on then I say & will when till its more confirmed.  The 1800's Adelong Gold mines.. this historic Heritage listed site.. and for us to have a guided tour though.. physically.. and at the end on Sunday.. gold panning too if you have kids or just want to write it off your bucket list. There are 6 tours being arranged on the Sunday of Easter expressly for the Nats Entrants.. along with the local museam being open.

Can't say the biggest news.... which happens also to be the most expensive.. .. will soon... But please be aware.. this event will certainly run to capacity as word spreads.  Two of the largest motels are now booked out..If your thinking about it.. Nominate your entry on cfusnats.com & check accommodation details on the site to

Also.. as planning goes for all to see.. here is part of the road closure submissions in council now and underway with others. Will area will allow for perhaps 300 vehicles.. but more comfortable with 250 as a specialist event.
The Camaro-Firebird.org invites you.  It will reach a capacity point where no further entries available.. we are now about 1/3rd of the way there.

Entrants get the goodies bag including US Produced good quality pocketed T-shirt and other stuff.

Entries now also linked to Paypal so a credit card payment is also possible.., or post in download entry forms.. keep watch for information updates but most updates continually  on cfusnats.com

Announcing.. Easter Saturday night at the Camaro-Firebird & US Muscle Car Nats @Tumut..the Elton Jack -  Elton John Tribute show.. as seen here at Walt Disney World USA & the "tiny dancer" rendition on stage in Sydney.
Costing heaps.. it's a good show..and the theater..impressive 1930's restored..much like the Sydney State Theater on a smaller scale.

But Sunday night may well beat this.... and remember this is all a club level event, no profit.. just for the memories..

Again in Tumut this weekend doing lead up logistics for the Easter Camaro Firebird & US Muscle Car Nationals... now 15 weeks off..

But did the drive Id never done.. from Tumut to Cooma via the Snowy Mountains Hwy.. and then onto Canberra and back to the Gong tonight.. over all distance about 500kms.. but after Canberra.. and particularly between Cooma and Tumut.. WHAT A DRIVE.. next to perfect.. reminded me of driving across the UTAH and New Mexico Desert . but with frozen tree stumps.

Also had a chance to look over something to do with the Snowy Hydro plant.. which will become better explained later.. but the picture of the pipes.. that feed the turbines.. water flowing from the upper reserve system..you can actually drive a bus in .. they are that big...

ENTRY FOR DIFFERENT MAKES:/ CLUBS
The CFUS Nats is an event supported by various car clubs and private funding to make it happen - simple as that.. it's really too big & expensive these days to establish as a stand alone one club National event .... 99% of non-profit community car clubs just don't seem to have the massive reserve funding & ongoing working capital to risk.... and with many clubs now increasingly burdened by PL & application fees &  costs to do almost anything.. its getting tougher.
 It's NOT for profit.

If you have a PAID online entry now already..you will receive a confirmation letter and the windscreen  Camaro-Firebird NatsEntrant ID card in the post this week.
First few dozen are from people who paid and entered ONLINE.. the next lot is the posted in entries which have now been a steady stream.

Update Dec 21st...  In preparation for the March Easter 2016.. Nationals.. we today welcome the Tumut Rotary Club's experienced catering logistics legendary abilities for the Nats Sunday Night final outdoor event .... another great locally secured group involvement .. benefiting everybody.     This is not an easy job or venue being totally outdoors with a lot of prep.. but knowing locally their ability & track record.. they're the # 1 choice & we have them.
Everybody gets a feed on  Sunday included in the Nat's entry.. and mainly locally source produce.   Just hope for good weather.

During this weekend.. .....specifically for the Nats entrants.. in Tumut.. as part of the co-operation with Tumut Council..   finalizing arrangements  for special parking if needed.. for the Easter Saturday night Nats event at the Montreal Theater... envisaged now for the street outside the theater  to be closed off completely for about 75-100 vehicles parking.. for the evening.. so  for those not wanting to leave your cars at the motels.. or staying further out. etc.. you can come to town..park in the reserved parking.. lock up your car.. the uniformed Tumut SES is overseeing the security aspects ..  Will make a good photo shoot on its own I expect...  Also idea for those coming into town to eat in town.. good parking from 6pm to 11pm just for the entrants US entered vehicles.

LOTS AND LOTS went together this weekend in tightening up the screws in Tumut..
SES.. looking after the closed off street for about 75 cars parking on Saturday night confirmed.. council confirmed street closure request in place for the evening as a late request add on.. just for this event.. try getting that done this way in cities or big country towns..
Had local regional radio station tape an 18 minute interview and review of whats going on.  Arranged  with Adelong pub.. which is 15 minutes away .. to be catering for those doing the Run#1 out to the Gold mine.. and the NWP tour guide to be on hand to do at least 2 - 3 tours from noon Good Friday.. as well as Sunday.
As 90% of food places are closed on Good Friday.. have also as extra.. arranged with Rotary.. for a optional limited to first 200 persons 4pm till 7pm . ...decent $8 per head BBQ/ meat/fish / Salad & tea & Coffee at the Railway station.   Tumut has a McDonalds and a smaller Pizza place open and one pub open from what I can get advance confirmations on Good Friday but  we need to eat & many getting there Thursday & Friday earlier then dinner etc... .but like most places outside of fastfood.. . .most are shut.. so the Rotary guys have stepped up .. again..  They just did a 2,200 person catering job for Visy.. who are HUGE in the region of plantation timber.. (and apparently the largest container exporter of wood out of the country).
Did other arrangements that will be talked about a bit later.
For the Saturday afternoon street closure.. /Display... Each block of the two blocks can hold comfortably 75 cars each min.. maybe 90 if needed. Have to we aware for commonsense reasons not to park opening doors on each other. .or over street fire pipe outlets. Fire Station which is in town.. is moving its assets out for the Saturday afternoon if need be.  Sydney Event DJ John McCoy-Lancaster to be on the mic in the main street during the 1pm-4pm time slot.
Sunday both Adelong and Talbingo prepared for visitors.. more on that later.
Thank you to Allan from Wagga for taking the time to trailer his very neat 69 over to Tumut for a very usable series of shots..

ANY AMCCA member who wants to go.. inc non GM owners  YOU ARE SPECIFICALLY WELCOME..

I can't say what I want to say as the events for the entrants..first up.. but barring crook weather or something we  cant work against.. this should be one of the  best GM Muscle Car family events every staged.
You will remember this for all the right reasons I expect.. and importantly want to come back to the Tumut Region again..
If you have a paid entry ($99 for a couple & one applicable car).. you will be posted a detailed program around the 15th March.

Update Feb 15th: Motels have limited accommodation left - a fresh regional check is being done this week..and listed in the MOTELS link above.
Decision to do a huge aerial shot using a helicopter over around 60 vehicles bringing in the Chevy Bowtie & Pontiac V logos..underlined with a 30 mtr banner of The Muscle Car Lives... a image if done right will stamp the time & location -  and go around the world automotive world - like the last one we did in 1988. Special thanks there to a few above the cut guys who are helping on this. More details for entrants in the Nats program being mailed out on March 12th to paid entrants.
We welcome the decision by Tumut Bowling Club to be open Good Friday evening for dinner service with good food. Its was the larger capacity venue needed as most places now are closed on Good Friday around the country.
Fifty street vertical banners have been ordered.. covering Chevrolet, Pontiac, Firebird,  Camaro with the CFUSNats logo over it. These will we used though the weekend.. and auctioned off on Sunday night to help recoup some funds.
350 Nats shirts have arrived ex the US and in place.. left overs are being sold off at the event. Every paid entrant gets one included. Those that have seen them . particularly the women who know more then most blokes about fabrics.. commented on the quality.
Nats vehicle awards.. are being prepared as we speak. Something different.

Friday 19th Update.. 5 weeks to go.

..just notes....
   *  The large image of the LOGO for the  Camaro Firebird Nationals is now set to be made for the overhead street banner in Wynyard Street Tumut..will be up in apparently 3 weeks time...
   * Few more feather banners also being made..restricted to 15 for use at the Nats and eventually auctioned on Sunday night.
    * Locked in the judging list as shown on the site. Awards now being produced to match the list.
    * The Entire Saturday nights outlays have now been paid up in full and covered well in advance .and .... The Talbingo Sunday Run 3 is looking interesting as is the the Adelong Gold mine tours & good folk helping.. they  have  the sponsorship of the NRMA .. . The Turf Club has been paid for chair hire for the railway station sit out Friday night and Saturday morning.. well n advance.
    * The Montreal Theaters all paid... Over 300 Event T-Shirts have arrived from the USA all paid for.  The SES who are helping out voluntarily over the weekend ... expecting to help them if possible.
    * New shop posters showing " Coming Events" shop /notice board posters have been printed and dispatched yesterday to the council offices.. these might be a collectors item in years to come..  Tickets for the Saturday night printed.. Sundays numbered tour tickets done..wrist bands done..
    * Lots of people still to pay but so be it.. hopefully they will.    Car numbers now over 110.. I'd sent out to many early entrants #'s to run in  sinc with their cars year.. and now falling back & filling up the holes with simply the next entry in so within maybe 2 weeks we'll get closer to the 150 mark number and in fact the ceiling of the event.  Better to have enough then too many..better people are looked after then herded  just can't cater for too many realistically.
   * Meals for people with special needs will be available on Sunday night. Dinner Sunday is a hot Buffet..
    * Not much if ... any motels left with empty beds now either with this and other events in the region happening.... looks good for the townsfolk.
    * Next weekend will payout the caters in advance for about 300 people.... and the other half of the costs behind Sundays entertainment.. and remaining odds and ends continue to be covered.
     * Incase of crook weather Sunday.. the theater is running the movie "The Dressmaker" at 2pm.. $10 a head..  a chick flick but.. also on for those wanting out of the car stuff too..

Slowly.. little steps... getting there.

Talbingo which is part of Sunday, we have now a couple of Helicopters for entrants which want to take a flight over the snowy during the towns bigger markets is on.. choppers go approx 150kph in roughly a 25km radius..costs ($80 per person) . These will help with the aerial shot too.

At Adelong for part of Run#1 anytime from Friday 11am .. (check programe when its out) there is 4 gold ruins tours from 11am to 3pm and another 4 on Sunday. Sunday also you can get into the creek and pan for gold .. good for something you have probably never done.. Good Friday now got an array of eating places .. Friday too now the Tumut bowls club is open for groups with good parking and easy dinner.
The Show in Tumuts Main Street Saturday..watch out for markers of Fire hose outlets..       Run # 3 .. Sunday.. to Talbingo.. the small rebuilt town of 300 is the site of the SMH  man made lake..site of the large country style Sunday markets.....& community club thats balconies overlook a perfect picture...... Post by: ozpont on March 13, 2016, 09:16:30 PM
Nats Program now finished mainly emailed via PDF.. came out well.. surprised myself a bit.. usually pretty crook.. this time only crook.. but its done.
For those without emails I've had some printed off today and will be posted out. Have a hundred copies in B&W printed too which will be at the nats.
If you have entered.. and paid.. or entered with a pay at entry.. and have an entrant # . .and did not today get an email from me with the Nats program.. then we have a problem with your email address to cfusnats@gmail.com please contact me.

About at the entry limit now.. few more from Victoria in the last week.. looks like . .subject to no shows and any more in the next few weeks.. about 130 cars. and that is fine. .manageable and within function limits.  Its not held in a sports field or fenced area..but as 98% of all in Tumut accommodation is now gone.  the numbers have worked out well.

5 days to go .

CFUS Nats programs were emailed & mailed over the last week to persons entered, If you don't have one please email cfusnat@gmail.com.
Well done to those that got in and are helping to make this event possible Judging crews and doorman and probably at times just grabbing somebody bigger and uglier then me to help out might happen, well bigger anyway...

Accommodation at Tumut..?? - also check Gundagai close by - TUMUT's Aston Townhouse & Suites 02 69471999 & Farrington Motel (02) 6947 1088 has a two rooms just come available 11 March...
Posters like the one below are all about Tumuts CBD in prep for the main street closure.
I was in Tumut most of the day Saturday before returning Wollongong.. just I guess like a wedding or other special event there is a bucket of things to see though..
Open yesterday too & will be next Saturday is the Tumut Potters next to the Railway Station....they make stuff out of clay... from historic model houses to pots and lots of other stuff the miss's may like..some blokes in there too doing its..That's part of the old Railway Station Good Shed..Just wish I had the time and ability to do what they do there.. lifes always a rush...
But ONE LITTLE moment of relaxing..came when lookin out from the old railway station on this perfect day....( which is the later Friday and Saturday AM meeting point)... I looked up across the road.. and maybe by "Divine intervention".. there's a tin shed. across the road about 100 mtres away..turns out it is a privately run boutique Beer maker.. a mini bar.. some rough & ready outdoor seating.. and they make not just one or two.. but 9 different types of beers.. Two Mates started it.. http://www.trbc.com.au/our-beers/ (http://www.trbc.com.au/our-beers/)     Including "redneck Ale" & "Squealing Pig Ale"...

There is MORE TO DO IN TUMUT.. More to do around Tumut, Adelong, Sugar Pine Walk, Talblingo / Snowy Hydro  then ANY of us will get time to do.. but boy..should the weather be good..this will be the best location YET I've ever been to for a regional car event, & the co-operation of local government is outstanding. RECOMMENDED TO ANY CLUB FOR SERIOUS EVENT STAGING.
      It's Australia at its best.

All over pretty much now.
127 entries
about 114 cars
Lots of couple's & lots of families.

Things to do too that  were also educational for older and younger minds..
Recommend Adelong Gold mines gets an UP hill elevator built in ....
Saturday nights entertainment seemed to go over especially well.. even two blocks down the road apparently..

Thank you to all those that helped big and small. It takes a full skilled staff to do an operation in a hospital.. not just one person.. and this event take the is same dedication & help.

Lots of perfect weather and a heap more to do that we had time for .. but as an introduction to the region many did not know much about.. it's been an eye opener.
The township from the Lady Mayoress who addressed the crowd on Saturday afternoon in the main street... to the  General Manager Bob Stewart appreciated the good character of the entrants.. the cars. . the visit..  It meant more to them then we first realized.. hence  why Tumuts General Manager took the personal time to come to the presentations last night.

That's its.. Tumut 2016 Nats.   Go visit again when  you have time  when possible - maybe cap it off by doing the drive from Tumut to Cooma to Canberra.. (not during winter but). 180kms comparable to driving Route 66 at times or driving by the beautiful mountainside without the rush... you will realize it only by doing it.   But Tumut's.. 4.5 hrs from Sydney.. 6 hours from Melbourne.

More images uploading on www.cfusnats.com (http://www.cfusnats.com).

Good video of Saturday afternoon up on youtube too.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmB_ZDQJXJg (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmB_ZDQJXJg)

What a top weekend, seriously awesome weekend, breathtaking countryside drives, great food, great town (Tumut), the tour of T3 was just awesome, the family and I had a wonderful time, good to see some of our AMCCA mates down there too. Definitely one for the slander when it runs next (possibly in 2 years time fingers crossed).
Huge thank you to Dave Clee, his wife, daughter and staff for an unreal event. Everybody I spoke too had a top time and the Tumut locals want us all back again.

Indeed, what an awesome weekend...  :thumb: I ended up clocking up 705 MILES!!
Great place, great people, great cars, great weather and just a great vibe...!

Ditto on the huge thank you to Dave Clee... what an outstanding job!
 :way:  :thank:

Also, big thank you to all the people who helped put it all together. Dave & his crew, Frank and his family... the judges, the "volunteers" it took so much from so many and I have to say, everyone was happy (even my wife, so that just says a LOT!!!)

THANK YOU ALL!!

 :what: :omg:
Congratulations Dave and Clee family and also to the other tireless organisers of the CFOCOA and the Pontiac club, etc. Brilliant Elton Jack show, delicious buffet, great presentation night and band and quality T-shirts.
It was obvious and much appreciated that all of the above at this amazing well organised event was VERY HEAVILLY subsidised, thanks again to Dave! Unexpected warm cloudless weather, picturesque lakeside cruising, roof off to Talbingo, spotting numerous kangaroos and some people even sighting emus!
Over 24 AMCCA in attendance and congratulations to all trophy winners including Alan and his mean red T/A, (thanks again for your efforts Alan), Ross and Cheryl, their incredible ’96 Firebird picking up a trophy and Peter’s well deserved win for his immaculate ’72 Nova. The camaraderie of the NSW, VIC, ACT and SA clubs was matched by the friendly Tumut locals, even though their town had been taken over by 100’s of muscle cars. I hope Tumut benefits from a big influx of people and pesos next year. The Warbys will attempt to break their own 30 yr old 500 kph plus world water speed record on Blowering Dam using a new jet engine speed boat.
HEADS UP GUYS! Any upcoming events with the Clee stamp on it . . . BE THERE!!
Cheers, Bob and Susan.
:thank: :way:    :burnout:
