"It is with great pleasure that I am writing to invite you to attend Sutherland Local Area Command’s 2nd annual ‘Sutho Cops & Rodders Road Safety & Car Show’. This educational festival will be conducted at Boys’ Town Playing Fields, Woronora Rd, Engadine on Sunday 14 October 2012 between 9am and 3pm.

The aim of the event is attempting to target young, inexperienced drivers in order to try and reduce road trauma by providing education in the promotion of safe driving and display exhibits of the severity and the impact of major motor vehicle collisions has on family, friends and the community alike.
The 1st running of the event in October 2011 attracted a crowd of around 10,000 patrons with 55 individual static displays and demonstrations set up with various specialist police units, emergency services, external stakeholders and organisations and attracted 146 exhibitor cars ranging from 1926 Hot Rods to 2011 FPV’s. Entertainment was provided with road safety and dog unit demonstrations, guest speakers, trophies, bands and amusement rides.
Sutherland LAC’s 2012 event has received national interest from organisations such as V8 Supercars, V8 Utes, Shannons Insurance, NRMA Insurance, Sydney Motorsport Park (Western Sydney International Dragway, Sydney Speedway, Eastern Creek Raceway, Eastern Creek Karting), NRMA Safer Driving School, Royal Flying Doctor Service, Careflight and other major organisations and stakeholders. At the time of writing, we can confirm (in no particular order) Penrite Oils, Castrol Australia, Mothers Polishes, McDonalds Restaurants, Fox Sports, St George Dragons Rugby League Club and NRL One Community to name a few that have contributed as sponsors and/or donations.
V8 Supercar Orrcon Steel Racing Team will be attending bringing their driving simulator, Show Car and V8 Supercar driver Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom. Shannons Insurance Super Rig road safety truck will also be attending, in addition V8 Utes Jesus Racing Team and driver Andrew Wilson. There will be a large media presence, with Channel 7's Sunday 'Weekend Sunrise', 'Classic Restos', 'Gasolene', 'Rodder's Life' and Performance Street Car DVD', all filming documentaries. Publications, including Street Machine, Australian Street Rodding, Street Commodores and Street Fords, Live! radio and newsprint crews will all be attending.
2012 marks the 150th year of NSW Police Force and to assist commemorate this significant event, Sutherland LAC are hosting a number of ex-historic police cars and memorabilia that will be on display.
All surplus monies raised by Sutherland LAC are donated to St George Hospital Trauma Unit. The day will comprise of all emergency services being represented, in addition to stakeholders from local, state or federal. NSW Police Force Rescue Unit in conjunction with NSW Fire & Rescue, will conduct mock rescue demonstrations.
Crash Investigation Unit and Forensic Services Group will display the severity of motor vehicle collisions. Stakeholders such as Brain Injury Association will host guest speakers that will speak to the large audience regarding their ordeal of being involved in major motor vehicle collisions. Rehabilitation stakeholders such as Australian Red Cross, Donate Life, NSW Organ & Tissue Donation Services, Vision Australia, Transplant Australia, Wheelchair Sports NSW will be attending with static and visual displays.
The event itself is free of charge with gold coin donations being sought from attending patrons. The cost to exhibit your car and participate in the car show is a cheap $15 to entrant, where, upon entry through the registration tent, you will receive a commemorative shirt. For the first 100 cars to enter the gate, you will receive a show bag full of goodies and the possibility of showcasing your car on Live! national morning TV. We can cater for around 1,000 car exhibitors to attend.
Due to the large car exhibitors anticipated this year, Sutherland LAC are encouraging pre-registration. This requires to complete the registration form and return it to Dave Hayes or Scott Robinson prior to Friday 14 September 2012. This will guarantee a shirt. We prefer payment prior to the event, however, CASH ONLY will be accepted on the date upon entry. All money raised by our event is donated to our major beneficiary being St George Hospital Trauma Unit, assisting to raise funds for a Brain Injury Unit.

MEET UP TIME FOR COPS AND RODDERS
Meeting at the new Hungry Jacks Heathcote at 7:45am for a 8:00am departure. If your coming from down south or up Heathcote Road turn left at the first set of lights after Heathcote Rd (at the skate park) and go around the roundabout to bring you back onto the Princes Hwy and turn right back onto the Hwy, Hungry Jacks is on the left next to the BP under renovations, if your coming from the North it's just before Heathcote Rd turnoff, Subway and Maccas are also there. See you there!

The event regardless, will be held rain, hail or shine. The current forecast does look promising with only the possibility of showers, however, we are not in a position to be able to postpone or cancel the event this far out.

Sutherland LAC are ensuring that every patron has fun and takes some type of education away from hosting the event.
The Military Dogs will be performing at 9.15am & 1.30pm, the Air Force hot air balloon will be inflated from around 7am. The Careflight helicopter is scheduled to land during the mock motor vehicle collision, involving NSW Fire & Rescue, NSW Police Force Rescue Unit, St John Ambulance, Careflight, NSW Police Force Crash Investigation Unit.
The official opening ceremony at 10.20am will start the fun off.
All this in the morning will be rocked in the afternoon by arguably AC/DC's best Australian tribute band, Dirty Deeds.
We have amusement rides, stalls, emergency services displays and demonstrations, great variety in food & drinks and much more.
Tickets for our mega raffle with $12,000 worth of prizes will be sold at Sutherland Police Mobile command vehicle for $2 each. The raffle will be drawn at 1.30pm at teh venue and the winner does not have to present or live in Sydney or NSW to win.
