Hey guys and/or gals, this is my first thread here at American Muscle Cars Australia and just by looking around, theres some good knowledge here. Now, I'm a young-un with a passion for Dodge Chargers from 66-70, the good years in my opinion. Now, on to my question, I will be buying one in the near future and plan to put a decent size V8 in it, I don't really care, but, wanted some opinions on whats the best ideally for one? I've heard a few things and the majority say a 440, from what I remember.
Thanks for reading my ramblings.

The "Please no dumbass..." wasn't directed at you, Peter was quoting what was in the ebay listing. Look at the last paragraph.
-
The only comment that I can make Rexxy is that you should read the eBay add again.
or maybe you do have a VL with subwoofers but I wouldn't have known that.

My apologies to Pete, sorry dude, mis-read completely, that comes with lack of sleep.
That Ebay car is just insane, I wanted something sensible that's not going to make me sh#t my own pants when I attempt to take off at the lights.
I've been looking at some nice Mopars, but, not sure what I really want.

Before I made that judgement, I'd have to take at least a couple of swings at Jen running past me naked.
-
If Jen ran past naked, I don't think I could stop staring, I'd probably just chase after her to be honest.
-
Also, how hard/pricey is it to change the auto (I believe that carsales one is) to a manual?
-
That car is odd, Definatly got a 392 hemi, defiantly not original, since they stopped making those in '58. But they've painted it up to look like a 426, even removed the plug lead shields to look like a 426, which is the correct hemi for this car. Pretty cool though all the same still a hemi and defiantly wouldn't be pulling it out to put a wedge motor in, maybe to make way for a 426 hemi but that would be it, you will be hard pressed finding a good manual box that will bolt to the back of that 392 block, they have a bolt pattern unique to the early hemis so nothing else will go straight on, though there would be mobs in the states who would offer conversion kits to run different bolt pattern boxes to early hemi, turbo pattern adaptor would be the go, would keep your gearbox options open.
-
So, what would you suggest? Just leave well enough alone? Or put a slightly bigger Hemi in?
-
That being said, I could just spend a lot more money are get a '68 charger. Well, the bank would spend a lot more money.
-
I would leave it alone, sourcing and fitting a 426 hemi into that car would not be a cheap excercise, also nothing is interchangeable between them two motors. It looks like a good car left as is. 727 tourqueflight boxes are generally a pretty tough auto, besides, if ur changing gears you won't have a free hand to cop a feel of jen hawkins in the passenger seat :rub: :rol:
-
LOL! I don't think my fiance would be too happy about me fondling Jen Hawkins.
I just feel that, if I'm going to buy such a car, I want it to be a manual, that being said, most of the ones I've found aren't manual, therefore I can basically rule that out unless I change* a crap load of things that I honestly can't be bothered doing. But, that being said, when there's a will, there's a way.
Read as spend more money

*drool* that's a very nice car, I'd be paying that back for quite a while I'd imagine. I think I'm sold on that one lol, all I need now is a FT job, not this casual one I have at the moment.
Also, Chargers came out in manuals, is there anyway I could (if I can get one) use a manual from the time, if you get what I mean.
