That was BFI (before Fuel Injection!)

Have you ever considered going back to BFI?

Yes, but that was when I thought there was something wrong with the FI, but I have found out there is no problem with it! Since the FI was installed I have had an electrical problem. At this stage I'm blaming the auto electrician who wired it in, because I never had a problem until the install, and now its hard to find the problem. The electrical problem is causing the computer  to muck up because I'm losing voltage and it doesnt know what to do when you get to below 10volt! It also is contributing to my over heating because the fans dont have enough voltage to work properly!

Andy,
In your previous post you said you never had a problem till the FI. Now you have a problem. What does that tell us? You have a problem with the FI!
540 cubes, 755 hp before FI.
Give me your car for a few days, put a four barrel Holley or Demon back on it and i will better those figures. Trust me!
I have always lived by the good old KISS motto( Keep It Simple Stupid)
Cheers, Chris.

That 755hp was after FI, Ive had the computer tested whilst dynoing and its all fine! Its fine when Ive got the right voltage! Its only mucking up when the voltage gets low. And the voltage gets low because of this mystery voltage drop problem. If I put a carby back on now I would have to cut a hole in the hood, and I dont want to do that! I ve spent way to much money now to go back so I'm persevering for now especially cause I know the system is fine! Also I like the compuer because I will be putting traction control and launch control on it and also I will have telemetary for me and to put on the videos whilst I'm on the circuit tracks.
hey did you get the fuel pump from Dale?

Sorry Andy, i saw Dale three times since and he keeps forgetting.
I just found out that he took off to Kiwiland yesterday for two weeks.
If you need one before he comes back i can get it somewhere else.
Cheers, Chris.

What FI system you using Andy??

You need a good Auto Electrician?
I use Sunnyholt Auto Electrical for all my cars and Truck.
I searched a long time for a good Auto Elec.

They will be wiring up the '57 complete with EFI for me.

Andy if you are having problems with voltages  you may need a secondary
supply  which kicks in when this happens monitored on your dash
instruments by volts gage.A small regulated. power supply wouldnt cost much.
Just my  5c ents worth cheers

GAS5455 its a Holley throttle body and intake, Autronic computer. which throttle body did u get? mines 2000cfm (realistically about 1400cfm). The problem with the auto electrician was that I had no choice (I'm sure I really could have) because he was the elect. that that workshop used! The auto elect that I usually use is ok. The car is still in a workshop gettin a new radiator then off to the auto elect to hopefully find the problem

Les my battery drains whilst driving so a secondary system would do nothing.

Chris I can wait, it seems to be running ok for the time being.

Andy seems your alternator cant keep
up with your battery but your computer needs
the correct voltage hence the secondary.system
I'm sure its getting closer to a positive result
and you'll be rat pakin again

Not sure if this will help i just had issues with my set up i am running a bigger alternator thru the the old wiring which was made to run maybe 40 amps max. so i have run another heavy wire from the alt bat. post to the battery now shows constant 14v on the battery gauge.
