Hi. Will be joining the AMCCA when the new car arrives. Mick & Yvette are taking care of the shipping for me. Gets here next week I hope.
Chris form Malabar (red Mustang conv) suggested I register on this site. Met him over on the Classic Oldsmobile site which is a excellent place if you happen to have an Oldsmobile.
Anyway, getting used to the way pics are posted (photobucket is new to me) so we'll see how this goes.
Looking forward to being part of the club, joining in the runs and activities and meeting y'all.
Cheers...Col.
ps..I notice in the Tech forums for GM cars there's one particular make conspicuous by its absence:huh:
And I've just previewed the post and apologies for the size of the pics.

Welcome! Looks Good, and good to see another different type of car in the club, I gotta ask because thats what I do.... Is it a 400 or a 350? I just need to know the amount of toughness! cause big blobs rule!

Great to see a REAL muscle car for a change.

It's a 455 with just a little work as far as I'm aware. 10.5 :1 compression, cam ,some internal stuff. It presents as stock in all other respects (stock manifolds, exhaust, carb etc).
It was originally a 350 and it still has the TH 350 trans with Hurst dual gate shifter.......and wait for it..... factory optional 8-track player. I hope it works cos I've been buying cartridges on ebay. Cruise control also (won't be using that) and something's been done to the diff. Oil capacity has been increased by 1 pint so maybe there's something going on in there. I'm hoping it's as nice as it looks.:fingers:
-
Hey did you hear that all you puny mower motor mustangs...its a 455cuber, now thats propa!

Thanks for pointing me in this direction Chris. I'm looking forward to being part of the club.
I reckon you'll get a shock just how quick "your wife's" Olds will be. The old Rocket engines are legendary. You won't be holding up traffic that's for sure..... even if it is an 84 year old dentist's car:zip:

Go the Big Blocks...
I used to own a 74 Cutlass coupe about 10 years ago it went to Newcastle. Some of you may have seen it around.
It also had the 455, what a fun ride that was. It only ever used petrol and tyres.
WOTSA442......Since it is not a numbers matching car... can i go crazy under your bonnet? :rub: Some more go-fast goodies...

Sorry col but he was ..............89yo, get it right
Hey he told me how good it goes , he had her up to 90mph! on the freeway he did ,BLOODY HOOLIGAN DENTIST!
-
Driving a '55 Olds with skinny cross plys, factory drum brakes and that garbage can lid sized steering wheel at 90mph on a public street sounds pretty brave to me.:omg:

Yeah but dont forget they have good roads over there where 90mph is nothing, compared to 90mph on our goat tracks we have here! I'd be scared doing 90 on any of our roads! (unless of course its a vette, then I could do 190mph!)

It'll pull up fine. My last Olds had power drums and it stopped like a disc brake car. Unlike my old Road Runner.....
While I'm a great Mopar fan, their drum brakes were woeful.
Take the 1970 Indy 500 Pace Car crash for example....
If the link doesn't work, google videos for 1971 Indy pace car crash. Mopar drums at their best. (FYI...1970 & 1972 Pace Cars were Oldsmobile Convertibles.....they didn't crash)
