:hello: over the last few months I have been speaking to the 60's American Muscle car club in Victoria & the American car club in the ACT about a weekend away & meeting up with the other two clubs around Albury which is about half way this could turn into a yearly event if popular. I have spoken to the Albury council & they are 100% behind helping plan our weekend away with providing a display area for our cars & lunch also the Wool shed would be prepared to have a dinner there & pick everyone up in buses. It would be great to get a little feed back on who would want to go most of the Motels will discount for us also.

Hi All,
Virginia and I would love to spend another weekend away with a fun bunch. Depending on the date. Should have my boot off by then and maybe be back in the drivers seat . That's if I can push somebody else out.

Good idea to make it a joint club event, but how about somewhere a bit more interesting than Albury.:toetap:
Maybe somewhere like Merimbula, a nice coast run sure beats the hell out of the Hume Hwy.
Any dates yet, i am refering to the run just incase you thought i meant something else when i mentioned dates :rol::rol::rol:

:hello: have just spoken to the two other clubs involved with this weekend it looks like it will be on the 13/14/15th May in Albury the weather should be really pleasant for our cars. Next step is organize with the council & motel & it is all systems go for a great weekend away.

Have just booked 30 + rooms at the motel. The cost will be $100 per night which is a $40 discount. This motel is like a resort with secured parking for our cars, indoor & outdoor pools. We will be having a BBQ on the friday night to get to know everyone from the other clubs. Saturday morning we might have a display in town for about 2 hours or a cruise through the town & then onto our super cruise to a place called Beechworth for the famous Pie shop & then cruise back a different way. Saturday night we can either have dinner at the motel or go out to a Woolshed where the owner will pick us up & bring us back in a bus. Sunday morning after breeky a cruise too a winery & then head home around noon. This is the latest update so far.

Might be worth a trip through Beechworth....they have (or did have) a good cake / pie shop also......also famous for Ned Kelly being in jail there when he was 16

I stayed at the same motel earlier this year when i flew down to the Chryslers on the Murray show.
Very nice place, awsome hospitality, the owner has a few Corvettes under wraps.
My drunken co pilot made a fool out himself in the swimming pool on saturday night.....:rol: :rol::rol:

Lisa and I will have to be a tentative at the moment. I have a work travel commitment at that time and won't know for sure until the first week of Apri. I understand we may have to miss out due to other bookings.

:hello: here is what will be happening on this weekend.
Friday 13th.
Victorian guys to make arrangements where to meet & cruise to Albury.
Sydney members will be meeting at Pheasants Nest servo & leaving around 9 am & cruising down hopefully pick the ACT guys up along the way & stopping for a quick bite for lunch & fuel then onto Albury stopping at the Siesta Resort for the next 2 nights.
Friday 13th.
A meet & greet sausage BBQ to get know everyone.
Saturday 14th.
We will either be having a display in town to raise money for a charity or a drive through town & onto our cruise to Beachworth to have a look around this old town that is famous for it's bakery then onto somewhere else Steve that owns the Siesta has Corvettes & will be coming on the cruise with us he is mapping out the run. Returning back to the motel where we can have a set dinner there or another option is a woolshed outer town that the owner has said that he will organise buses to get us there & back ?
Sunday 15th.
Meeting for breeky at the motel & a short cruise to maybe a winery & then say goodbye to everyone & make our way home.
Costs Resort $100 per night for the room. This cost is discounted from $140.
The resort has discounted the Big breeky to $12 from $19.
I think our club will cover the cost of the Friday night BBQ or put a raffle onto cover the cost?

One stop for fuel might be a bit optimistic for some of us.

This may help......
I've taken the Corvette down there a few times. The Vette has a relatively small fuel tank and not the most economical of engines.
I live near Campbelltown. I filled up when I left, again at Yass and made it Albury. Mind you if I had gotten into it at all it would would have been a different kettle of fish, I just cruised.
There are limited places with hi octane in the towns and I assume most of you use hi octane. At worst you may need one more stop between Yass and Albury.
Just a thought, maybe fill at Pheasnts Nest or even Paddis river then at Gundagai. Obviously depending on your starting point.

Albury council called me the other day & there will be a Beetles weekend on at the same time (thats the band not the cars) so it should all add up to an exciting time.

Just letting you know Mark and I have booked our room for Albury and we are hoping all 3 kids with be with us.
If not definately 2 of them,Blake heard there was a Beatles tribute weekend happening down there and he is as keen as mustard.
If Shane is not away with the army he will also be coming as well, but I'll have to let you know closer to the date.

:hello: when our cruise on the Saturday afternoon goes up to Beachworth we will be parking at the old court house which will be reserved for our group & the court house where Ned Kelly was tried they have a reenactment of the trial & get members from the audience to participate the cost of this is $6 per head this should be a lot of fun. Also there are plenty of shops for the ladies & a great pub also.
The available rooms that are left are filling up fast if you want to come along please book in ASAP & mention the American Muscle cars on the Murray for your discount.

Itinerary for American Muscle Cars on the Murray.
Friday 13th
Sydney guys meeting at Uncle Leo's servo Crossroads at 7.45 for a 8 am leave, driving down the M5 to Pheasants Nest where the Southern guys are meeting at 8.45 & waiting for the Sydney guys to arrive. From there we proceed to the truck Servo on the Yass By Pass for a coffee & Re fuel then waiting for the ACT guys to arrive. From there the next stop will be Tarcutter for re fuel & lunch if needed from there we drive into Albury to the Siesta Resort.
Friday night
Instead of the BBQ outside we will have dinner inside which will be a selection of hot food & salads this meal is provided free.
Saturday 14th
Breakfast at the resort if you want at about 9am we will drive down into Albury for a car display & photo shoot about 11.30 am we will commence our cruise to Beachworth for lunch then meet at the old courthouse for the trial of Ned Kelly at 2.30pm the cost is $6 per head. From there we will cruise back via Yakkan Dam arriving back at the Resort for a few hours the Resort has a indoor pool & 25 person Spa so we can relax before getting picked up by bus & taken to the Woolshed for dinner they have a band on the night as well then returned by bus back to the Resort.
Sunday Morning.
Meet for Breakfast at 8am then after breeky head off for a mysterey cruise stop somewhere for lunch & head off home.
When we meet you, will be given an Itinerary with a list of phone #'s incase you get lost. If you need further info please call me A/H on 0403 026 867. There are a few rooms left if you still want to come along just phone the resort on 6025 4555 & mention the American car weekend for your discount

On a sad note....I can't make it this year unfortunatly still too many cars stuck in my workshop(good old excuse, i know) not to mention the cars i own would only make 200 k's to a tank full, no idea how to use a GPS(bull crap), too old, too stupid to read road signs....anyways you all have a good time...you hear!
The place you are staying at is the best in town, I have been there many times, it is like a tropical resort. You may need to hire an Ice Breaker if you want to use the swimming pool but it will be worth it. Take many photos!
I will make next time.....Promise!

It was great that 3 clubs with the same interest could come together & have such a :fantastic: time & join in all the fun. What an absolute blast we had this weekend, so sorry it had to end, :fantastic: to meet all the people from the ACT & Melbourne Car Clubs.
The Siesta Resort Motel was unbelievable, so many pools & spas to choose from, and when we got up this morning our car windows had been cleaned for us all, great service :agree:
The whole weekend went very smoothly, hope everyone had a good time, don't forget same time next year. A BIG THANKS to the organisers for making our weekend one to remember. Can't wait to see the photos.

What an awesome weekend. The resort was great & really looked after us, the Victorian & Canberra guys were a top bunch with some real cool cars & all we had to to was drive our cars around everything else was taken care of. The woolshed was a good feed & the bus was good & the cruise to Beechworth was nice & the trial was good even if Mick couldn't get me off. Really looking forward to next year & a big thanks to everyone that helped make it so memorable. :fantastic:

I totally agree with all the comments on the forum about the weekend,it was GREAT & very well organized considering it was the first event!One thing that I was very impressed with was the reliability of all the cars as I did not see or hear of a single breakdown so "Hats Off"to all the members & their mechanics for helping keep the cars on the road & reliable as no one has any fun repairing a car on the side of the road in near freezing conditions at 7am in the morning Right!!

Wow I must say this is one of the best weekends I have been on. Organisation exceptional, Siesta resort outstanding, events venues brilliant, company what can I say fabulous and I laughed so much. Looking forward to next one.

Thankyou for all your hard work and thoughtfulness in organising a very smoothly run weekend ....we had a blast and look forward to coming back next year (with gloves). Thankyou to Janne for the :cool: of each facet of the weekend, you really captured the whole experience.....the Victorian and ACT guys proved :drink: we are all just one big family of like minded people....gotta say the car park at the Siesta was a sight to see and the hospitality of Steve and Jeff was exemplary.
