Not really convinced that a Falcon is a suitable tow vehicle for something of that weight...

I don't think the outcome would have been different if it was towed by an F250. It was the sudden evasive maneuver that caused the trailer to jacknife and flip. If you notice there is no visible damage to the Falcon.
However I totally agree with you Chris.... The combined weight of the trailer with the Pontiac would be around 2400kg and the tow vehicle must exceed that by law. Not many people realize that.

I've towed a heavier car on a trailer just like this once, I did not know about the restrictions on what weight can be towed.

All vehicles have a GVM AND GCM for rego purposes.
GVM gross vehicle mass, is the total weight of the car , driver load etc in the vehicle .
GCM is the gross combination mass , vehicle and its contents and trailer and load.
