I have spoken to a few members today & run this idea past them, lets hold a charity night this Saturday 14/02/09 at Harry's Cafe- De Wheels at liverpool in the hope of raising money for the victims of the worst bush fires ever. I will be inviting all car clubs to this event, entry will be $10 per car with all proceeds going to the Victims relief fund. At the moment I am trying to get some raffle prizes & maybe a lucky gate prize ;7 on your thoughts how we can make it even bigger.
;v Garry ;M:cool:

Nice work...
Gary is it worthwile with the prediction of showers on satee to see if its possible to get the under ground carpark of Domain opened up....
One other thought is some donation buckets so people whom cant take there cars or just the general people up there grabbing a bite can drop a bob or two..
For mine the buckets need clear identification with the clubs logo/name on it.

Great idea and maybe have a couple of buckets on the counter of Harry's so people can drop their change given into it as well.....I think this will be one of the biggest events at Harry's...great idea
-
This may sound weird BUT
the other thing they are asking is for Blood donations ,is it possible to get in touch with the red cross to set up a mobile blood bank so that we can also give blood
just a thought :)
-
Garry, Allthough I cannot attend a fundraiser I would like to pledge / donate $50 to this worthy cause.
I am so angry that in this day and age we have imbeciles who thoughtlessly throw lit cigarette butts out of car windows whilst driving.

To everyone that donated to the Victorian fire relief event I would like to ;J & to all the car clubs that made this a great event we raised $8842.40 with more money to be collected this was a :) effort with the weather conditions that we had last night I think a big ;J should go to the guy that drove the blue hot rod. Also a big ;J should go to Don & Gwen Darby who drove from Wagga Wagga on the day just to donate one of Gwens great oil paintings & drove home that night.
;v Garry ;M:cool:
-
That's fantastic mate. Marni, Leslee and I are very proud to be a part of the best car club in Australia
-
You are only happy because the chicken was on tele this morning Joe.
This was a great job with very little time to organise & the weather against us & still we manage to make a large amount of money for a very important cause to help our brothers & sisters in Vic. I am really proud to be part of such a great bunch of guys & girls .This really is the best club in Australia , but without the other clubs & people that donated & helped out this wouldn't have been & we wouldn't have raised so much money . I would like to thank Garry for organising this & all our members that helped out & the other clubs that helped & turned up on a miserable night .
Sorry for jibbering but I have been drinking! :(

Great news!!!
Although I got there late due to work...it looked to be a great evening.
Well done everyone. Amazing what can be done in a short amout of time for a great cause.
Anyone got a link to the TV report on tonight?
-
Thats an incredible amount to be raised with such short notice.
Congratulations to all involved.
When you witness fundraisers like that you realise how great the aussie spirit is.
Well done
peterp
-
Amazing amount of money for such a short organising time, with rain and Valentines day!
When they asked me which cars to use for the shot I said "that red Rustang with the flutes missing and with the obsessive compulsive polisher would represent the Ford brand nicely!;x
-
thats awesome wish i could have made it congrats to all of you who made the effort in turning up and raising the money last night
-
What can i say that hasn't allready been said and we all know.
Thanks to Garry and all the comittee members for doing a great job under weather conditions that would see most car clubs pull up stumps before it even started.
And to all the members of AMCCA and the other clubs that turned up for charity not a trophy.
I think last night it what our club is all about, and like all members are proud to be associated with this club.
David.
-
Congratulations to you all for the superb effort, apologies for not being there, but had a prior event in Canberra. Seems sad to be short of the $9,000, so Garry you should tip me in for the difference.
Look forward to catching up Saturday.

Congratulations to all who attended on such a miserable evening. Please accept our apologies for not attending, fatigue after a super long week got the better of me, in bed by 8pm.
AMCCA is certainly a marvellous club as shown by the organization and generosity of it's members. As a committee member I'd like to thank each and everyone for your generosity with donations for door prizes and raffles
A big thankyou to all other car clubs that attended and your genourous donations.
Gary, you are the best and have my vote forever.

Well guys, Gwen and I are new here and really need to make this post.
Gwen and I have a 2006 PT Cruiser 2.4L Touring GT - Electric Blue. A PT Cuiser!!!!;G Wha did say Willis!!!! Where's the 'American Muscle Car'???? - Well, I'm a Yank, got muscle, have a American Chrysler car (though it's made in Mexico) and am a naturalized Australian - how's that for American Muscle Car Club - Australia! Sounds good anyway! Maybe we need to become members as 'American Mini-Muscle' LOL.
We want to really thank you all for having us at the Victorian Bush Fire Fundraiser on Saturday. What a fantastic event - and Garry - well what can you say;y What a job this young fella did, and in only four days - and Maureen and then the committee - congratulations to each and everyone of you;u
We left Wagga Wagga at 10:30 am and got back into Wagga Wagga at 3:30am Sunday morning - rain, rain, rain - never mind!
It was really good catching up with other PT Club members, Oz Show Car members and meeting new people from other Clubs. It was a real credit to all those who travelled in the rain to attend this fund raiser - and know they were not disappointed.;F
Again, congratulations on a fantastic night and the amount raised was astonishing. Look foward to catching up later on.
Hear you are going to Narrandera, June long weekend. Stop in on you way through for a cuppa - if allowed might go with ya.
Take Care
Don (lonedog) & Gwen (Medicine Woman)
