Title: How to remove radio from 1977 Trans Am
Post by: 1977 Transam on January 05, 2014, 06:37:29 PM
Hi.

I was wondering if anyone could help me please.

I tried removing the radio from my 1977 Trans Am this afternoon.

Took the tuner caps off then the took the nuts off.

Not sure how to get the radio out though.

There's no other panels to remove.

Wasn't sure what else to do to get it out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Factory radio comes out from the back...you take off the nuts on the spindles, the face plate etc....there should be a support strap on the rear of the radio and it comes out from under the dash. Probably helps to remove the centre console and work from under the passenger side of the dash.

Beauty!

Thanks Leigh.

All interior is still out of the car so plenty of room to lie around.  :)

I'm putting in one of those stock looking radios with the new technology that Dave from Pontiworld sells.

Bought it 2 years ago.  Figured it's about time it went in.

Fingers crossed it works when I plug it in.
