Sign me up, I'm there.:fingers::fingers::fingers:

For those of us who haven't seen this guy, you're seriously missing out.  Even though he worked for Pontiac's ad agency during the muscle car era, he's a walking talking encylopedia of the entire muscle car scene in Detroit.
He even worked with Hugh Hefner at Esquire magazine 'back in the day' (pre Playboy).
Also, you'll never see another 84 year old with more energy.
DON'T MISS IT.

No Bee, it's not a presentation about Ford, it's actually something we CAN get excited about.:thanks:

And having met both of you, you and Jim that is, he's got 10 times the energy output of you and me put together.

I'm sure he'll be really really great, and there'll be heaps of pontiac guys there for sure hanging off every word and cheering every backflip. Hey, he and heff are both remarkable living legends who are still living a life many can only dream of and turn up to hear all about.

Who could blame them for turning up to listen, it's probably still a dream for those people who do.

P.S. Sorry if it sounded like I was making fun of this guy, I'm sure this will be the highlight of your year.

Furthermore, go and have fun chris, I'd certainly do the same if I had a similar opportunity but sadly I don't.

Make sure you tell us all about it at the next meeting after he presents, I'm sure it will be great to hear and I do want to hear it too.

Bumblebee...  I've taken it upon myself many times over the last 20 + years to organize things for the enthusiasts.. long before I was in a similar line of work and even then while still broke but healthy.  This trip down under of US Muscle Car authority Jim Wanger's come Early May in NSW.. will hopefully if we can attract 500 people with a brain and $29 - will come closer to  breaking even, if not I eat it ... and happy to do it.

I'm doing it as a risk simply to further the education & intense interest of many who have perhaps only joined the US car scene in the last decade.. as many who have been in the interest for a while may know.. these standout individuals are rare.... time is getting on. . ... , John Delorean, Henry Ford II & a couple in the  Corvette ranks have gone over the last 5 years.. and CAN"T be replaced... .. soon like respected  & cheered WW1 veterans... there will be no first hand accounts...not ones that are fully in charge of things..... just web sites and books.. that with the education standards being achieved these days .. without pictures may be impossible to convey history.. ...especially automotive heritage which seems to be a bit socialy on the nose with the green movement brain washing people into beleiving if you own a car your a criminal.... But history underlines much of what we like & share.... and much in the end .... of what we enjoy.
If we could find engaging Ford & Chrysler movers and shakers of equal or greater standing to Muscle Car world as  Jim Wangers.. I'd encourage you to bring them to Australia for the good of the community we socialise in, without fear or favor.

As most seem more relaxed & interested in historic stuff.. not all .. but most...  etc.. just to let you know its not a half baked idea to bring Wangers back.... just trying to help people in ways that others can't.
If people want to attend.. they only need to look later next week on www.usgmsp.com front page for the highlighted details.
The Time & Legends stand still for no one & no Automotive marque.. while we don't need to live in the past..  there was much to learn & hear from...... the people behind it.. to see and talk and hear them first hand.. is long remembered after a web site page is fast forgotten.

:hello: The first Camaro-Firebid nationals I went to that Dave Clee organized at Narrandra was fantastic & Jim Wagners was the guest speaker he not only talked about Pontiac but all muscle cars was a very interesting night at $29 you will get your monies worth of entertainment. It would be good to get a group together & make a night of it with dinner somewhere :feedback:

What, so because you're a Ford guy, you won't go??  As I said, he's an authority on the entire muscle car era, working in Detroit all through that time.

If you're assuming I wouldn't want to go and hear someone like Carrol Shelby just because he's associated with Ford, you're 100% wrong.

One day, all of these guys will be gone.  Jim Wangers is a very interesting man, with a wealth of experience and knowledge of an era I'm very interested in - not just because of the cars.

If you think I'm just going to hear about Pontiacs, you've seriously misjudged me.

I also went to the muscle car nats at Narranderra ,listened to the talks

Well worth the effort and the $29 to go see him YES he is a pontiac guy BUT above that he is a muscle car guy and his knowledge of the era whether it be ford ,chev, pontiac, chrysler etc he knows it and speaks with so much enthusiasm ,he knows all of the players from the era like delorean ...has way to many stories to tell

If it was just a pontiac talk i personally would not be that interested , however its NOT just about pontiac its about the muscle car era !

As part of the Wangers National tour.. we have a limited supply .. for each state of the prints below coming though.. that Fitzpatrick/  Wanger's  Advertising prints that helped Pontiac raise the level & street spirit during the 60's & 70's..... Each Can be personally autographed on the night at each venue. Cost is A$22 each & as you can see from the cut US$ add..  they are normally sold for US$20 + $10 US national post.

Prints will only be available at the venues.. and we will upload an option on USGMSP.com shortly for people to pre-order any of them, those already entered please contact me and I'll add whatever you want added...... but will not be selling them before the tour or outside of the tour.

   The prints are about 50 x 32  or  16 inch x 20 inches wide.

Also regards ticketing.. as the close of March comes up tickets will be dispatched.. each are state identified and each are numbered.. they will also be used for Lucky Door prizes... (just gotta find some doors.. maybe one signed by Wangers with the Winner and Wanger's photographed together with it on the night  would be of interest....!.. stupid but ...

This tour..despite my early reservations about .. reservations and interest.. is starting to gather a lot of interest from some pretty intelligent people too.... which is GREAT.. it's what this is all about.. creating times we can remember for all the right reasons.

For those going on the Monday night ($29).. please commit .. it will be more for the intelligent group within that will get the most from it..
Saturday at Smithfield RSL from noon (first 100 Pontiacs have reserved parking) is the Pontiac  focused general event with the "Who Killed Pontiac" talk being the first and only time being done in Oz by Wangers... (Gm screwed up BIG time on that but that's another subject....!  why the hell kill of an 85 year old legend BEFORE you completed the sale of Hummer, Saturn, Saad or Vauhaul etc.. of which they sold ZERO in real $ return terms... they completely  screwed this up..!)...

Monday night at the Bankstown Sport Club (Greenfield Parade on the southern side of the shopping strip) the day AFTER mothers day....... is brain food that will keep you focused for years I think. .. for most all interested people...which in part will also show how the US Government is also partly to blame for the [Censored]ed up state of US industry in general...

.. .. what a welcome..  credit where credit is due....

Suttons Mascot Sales Manager Feras Alma.. .with pride & passion took to Wangers and Dave Anderson giving them a full account of the Holden dealership, the Commodore range, HSV range, getting access to certain HSV  vehicles and more.. ..
A GREAT PLUG for Suttons Mascot .... Wangers & Anderson were VERY VERY impressed .. well done guys if this gets back to you, your courtesy and product knowledge won the day.

Comment of the day.. for those with an memory for Pontiac's performance outlet in the 60's..."Royal Pontiac" .that built so many high performance top selling GTO's from a Michigan based dealership... that on reviewing the full line up of  Commodore's, the wagons, the utes. .the Maloos. HSV's....the range of colors, performance enhancements as displayed....... that it was in his opinion... "its the Royal Pontiac of the New Millennium"

From the people I spoke to on Saturday night, the afternoon was great Joe Johnson & Sue Bell had their cars signed by Jim Wangers does that mean you pair will never wash that part of the car again LOL.
Any way you can still get to see Jim on Monday night at the Bankstown Sports club he will be speaking about the muscle car area & lots more.

The "Father of the muscle car" American Jim Wanger's made one of the most interesting open visits to Australia of ANY US Motoring person in recent memory...

Completed in Adelaide last night to the biggest audience of his Australian lecture tour...... after 7 days.. 5 presentations... 4 states live on the spot in front of hundreds & hundreds of enthusiasts and professional guests.. ...

If you missed this 84 year old..... you missed a moment most participant's will not forget.. as simple as this whole event was.

....with this effort now signing off.... maybe enough's said.. that in all the nearly 3hrs of combined presentations.. in each of the States.. .. NOT ONE person left early... not one, male or female...!

I had the opportunity to spend the Day with Jim and Dave last monday as Geoff Swaverly and I picked them up from their hotel in the city.  We went to lunch, watched him do his interview for Drive, and had dinner with them, and chatted after his talk.

They were great guys, and both had plenty of stories to tell.

Gary,  I talked to him about the AMCCA and how the club actually gets out and uses their cars, has a great mixture of cars and people.

He did like what you gave him.

I noticed how no one moved in his talks.

They were very interesting!
