I mentioned some time ago, that my 17 year old son was selected in the Australian U/19's basketball team and that they were heading off to Germany to compete in the Albert Schweitzer tournament (I don't know what Albert Schweitzer has to do with basketball).
Anyway, it's an invitational tournament, with the top ranked nations from around the world invited to compete. It's held every two years and has been going since 1958.
The Australian team, also known as the Emus, defeated Germany in the final to take the gold medal last Friday . This is the first time Australia has ever won the whole thing, although they have finished in 2nd and 3rd place on previous occasions.
The USA finished 4th, including being defeated by Australia in an earlier round.
They fly back into Sydney tomorrow morning.

When I told a mate of mine about it, he asked if I was taking the convertible to pick him up at the airport tomorrow.
When I said yes, he reckoned that was good, as I'll have to bring him home with the roof down, as his head won't fit inside the car with the roof up.

and better looking.......congrats...these are the efforts/achievements you never see on the news.

Great result, was it reported on the news? , congrats to both of you, must have been a awsome feeling when the final whistle was blown.

I believe Sky news carried it once, but briefly. Other than that, nothing locally.
