Hello everyone over the last week or so we have all heard about what the SES have done to help out the flood victims all these volunteers work for free, so I was thinking we should do something to show our appreciation for these guys & girls who risk their lives to help others.
So I thought lets put an all American Car Bike & Hot Rod show on to raise money for them I have spoken to the SES in Wollongong & they are right behind the idea.
I then spoke to my mate who runs Towradgi beach Hotel who is more than happy to hold the event at the hotel & the band will be the Bondi Cigars
This will be held on Sunday the 29th of July I am in the process of getting some prizes together, & each entrant will be given a free raffle ticket on entry, I will let you know what the prizes will be soon. I am going to visit all American car clubs in the next couple of weeks to advise them of this event ;I
Next I was thinking if we have two meeting points we can have a super cruise to the hotel. I am working on around 150 cars for this event.
I will keep updating this if you have any suggestions please feel free to call me on A/H 0403026867.
It would be great to see as many of our members attend this as possible & please tell your friends with American cars to come along.
This event is cruising along smoothly so far.
Meeting places we will have two the first one is.
The train station car park just before the Caltex servo Heathcote meet at 8am Leaving 8.30am. For people coming in from Appin Rd meet at the top of Bulli Pass at 8.30am & be ready to join the convoy when they pass you by, they should reach you there about 8.45am.
The second meeting spot will be Uncle leo's servo on the Hume hwy just before the start of the Freeway to the ACT meet there 7.45am leaving 8am then head down to Picton Rd turn left & head towards Wollongong just up from the exit onto the F6 you can pull over & wait for the convoy which should go past about 8.50am & then onto Towradgi Beach Hotel
See Ya Garry.;)&:) ;F

Just a reminder you have the Drive and Dine to Harry's cafe de wheels the day before to kick off the fundraiser, they may even collect coin donations for the club appeal for us leading up to the 30th june gathering there at liverpool Car nuts have big Hearts

Hi Guys, Sounds like a great cause i think we should really get behind this event. I will let the Pontiac car club know about this i am sure some members will come.;F
-
Great job Garry :4, This should be biger than Ben Her. ;F
The meeting place, my thoughts are that it should be out side sydney we are going to the Gong so we should have a big snake of cars going through the Gong Marty & Erica at i98 might come on board maybe on the edge of Syd at one of the major freeways if we go into sydney then we get so strung out in the traffic & some us get lost.
Any how i will be their for this great cause ;F
-
Check out orignal post for meeting times & date has been changed.
See Ya Garry.;)&:) ;F
-
Thats cool.
I will be able to attend now as I was racing on the 1st July.

Good news already the Ibis Hotel in Wollongong have donated a great prize. Shannon the General Manager tells me they do a great Sunday Brekky smorgasboard for only $15 we should look at doing this one Sunday morning & there is good parking. Also my friend at Bulli Printing is donating the raffle tickets for us I asked Officeworks if they could donate 500 flyers & they said no it really helps if you go to some small businesses that can make a decision on the spot lets hope officeworks never need the SES.
See Ya Garry.;) &:) ;F
-

Ok spent yesterday canvasing for Raffle prizes it really amazes me big business I went to BBQ galores & Harvey Norman both said you will have to contact head office in Sydney explained how time is running out then I said anything small like a pair of tongs or a kettle same answer ring head office.
Then went to Outdoors First walked in seen the Manager Les told him about our day he said mate I can donate a scooter for your raffle & do you want to take it with you now. What I am getting at is we should shop at these type of stores more often than the big names & I bet you will get a better deal all the time.
;J Les from the American Muscle car club of Australia.

Kris
-
Wow this sunday is almost upon us and what a great day
I'm sure it will be just 2 questions
1....is it ok to put something up for sale,, car, parts etc
what are the restrictions or advice regarding this if you have a set of wheels or a car you want to sell or let be known.
without taking away from the whole meaning of the event.
2..... what plans are in place for assistance, volunteers do you need some help I can come down early if required and help out at the start do you have a team there to assist you in setting up.
If theres a need plse holla ..... cheers
-
Hi guys I will be getting there around 8am we will just park the cars as they drive in I think will be the easiest way to do it as I think we are going to get a bumper crowd from the responce I have been getting on my phone :8
If you want to put a for sale sign on your car that is all right if you want to put a fence around your car thats OK you will not be permitted to do test drives until the show is finished.
The SES will be collecting the donations & i might need some help selling the raffle tickets if a group of us take turns it means we will share the load. At the moment I think thats the only help I need I think the day will just run smooth as silk with a couple of  :2.
See Ya Garry.;);F
-

Thank you all for your kind words but really it is everyone that turns up that makes the day so special, because without the cars there really isn't a lot to look at. We raised $4661.55 on the day for the SES they were so happy with the effort. We will do it again next year & lets try & double the money ;I.
I would like to thank Warrick for the design of our posters & the printing of them also Ed for all his help over the last 5 weeks of setting this event up Matt for putting flyers out at different places. Like I said before everyone that turned up wants thanking so ;J

Hi Gary and the rest of the motley crew,
It is Grant from the SES. It took me while to find a password that would let me join but I am in now (so to speak).
Got to say on behalf of the Wollongong City SES a big thankyou to you Gary, the effort that you put into organising this event to support us has been much appreciated. The original figure of $4661.55 was fantastic and then you advised me to get in touch with the Towradgi Beach Hotel cause they had their own little collection going on the bar and yes there was another $600 taken there.
All of our guys had a great day and are amazed at the effort that the members of your club put into their vehicles.
It is nice to know that in doing what you guys do best and that is putting so much effort into your hobbies and getting them to sparkle so much and getting them out for us all to see, it can assist us when we need to partake in our hobbie of assiting the community in their times of need.
At the Unit we have had several projects that have required funds over the years. The next major project that these funds will go along way to assisting us with the purchase of a personnell transporter- be it a mini bus or troop carrier to help us move our guys around when we need to.
So once again it is big THANKYOU to all involved.
;J:)
