Title: Dec 3-5. Homebush Bay V8 Supercars
Post by: MuscleVette on August 12, 2010, 07:03:00 PM
Hello everyone.
Our club has been invited to display 15 of our club cars at this years V8 supercars the cost is $55 per car for that you get 2 entry tickets & 2 tickets for the concert which I think this year might be Guns & Roses. We can put our cars on display from Wednesday or Thursday & they will be on display in the Dome & we have to have them roped off which is good as it stops the public getting close to the cars. Also if you don't want to go every day to the races you can share your tickets with friends. I would like to see a variety of cars which the organiser has asked for. I will be dividing the makes of cars fairly so as we don't get to many of one brand we want a variety of cars in the display.

interesting walking around the dome and he hall that leads in to it ,those v8 supercar transporters are a nice bit of gear ,also the stack of tyres set up ready to fit was very impressive (would be nice to get hold of a set of them :)

I have two videos for you

Watch them in order

[align=center]
No.1

What has all this got to do with V8 Supercars........

No.2

Tony Hawk will be in attendance at the Telstra 500 V8 Supercar race in Sydney next weekend, where he'll demonstrate his undiminished skills on the Monster Vert Ramp. As part of his welcome to the Antipodes, the locals have built him a 'skateboard' powered by a 630-horsepower V8 Supercar engine. Unlike the race cars, with their fancy roll cages and steering wheels, Tony just gets a throttle and a panic button. We'd love to see him run the ramp with it, but we'll settle for him going just a little faster than the guy in the 2nd video

Should be interesting.  LOL!!

Somebody please get some footage while you guys are out there.

Kind if disappointing the way the day panned out ,it was belting down with rain yet team bosses left the main contenders out on slicks ,it was ALWAYS going to end badly
was interesting however wandering around the garage area after most people had left ,most panels on a v8 supercar are either fibreglass  or carbon fibre including the rear 1/4,s
Stone brothers have a massive amount of work to do tonight to get the cars back on track ,Ross Stone was working on the cars along with the crew ,

anyway if you havent seen the end result of slicks on a track that is soaked

Had a great day there yesterday, except for me getting sunburnt. We saw Tony Hawk at the Monster Skate Park which is what my son (14) wanted to see. Homebush is the worst track I've ever been to though to watch the cars, there seems to be no decent place to watch them from? All you can get is a glimpse here and there. Eastern Creek is much much better for spectators IMO.

Hi Jim, I have heard that comment from a few people now.
I think the only decent place to watch the racing is from your own recliner at home, while having a few drinks :drink:

Well the weekend is over at Homebush I would like to thank the following members for putting their cars on display Dave & Ellen, Alistair, Andy, Peter & Robyn, Chris, Craig, Steve, Mick & Yvette, Steff,Geoff, Ryan, Keith & Tracy, Jim, Sal,& Greg Smith who let me drive his Caddy on the parade lap when he was at work. I think our cars looked fantastic also a huge thanks to Richard for taking all the photos of the cars & I think every girl that was at the track that had a sponsors shirt on & for all the photos that he took of our two promo girls. It was good to catch up with some other car club members that you don't see all the time. My thoughts on the event, yes it is hard to see a lot of the track as apposed  to what you got at Oran Park or what you get at Eastern Creek, but the atmosphere with the venue for families is fantastic wide streets heaps of seating lots of shaded areas & plenty of car parks & I thought for that many people it was really clean over the 3 days & a lot more food variety & better quality than Eastern Creek just my thoughts.

Yes a great weekend overall, it's a real carnival atmosphere and kind of reminds me of the Easter Show with plenty to do. The only downside for me was that there was nowhere decent to watch the actual race. WTF!! But overall a good event and would be happy to do it again next year.

:thanks:

Thanks for organising it Garry ,as Jim said it is hard to find a decent spot to watch the race from BUT when you find one you are only about 3 metres from the cars as they go past ,the noise they make is amazing to say the least !
I found a nice grandstand on turn 8 to sit on and watch the race ,spent all of today there just chilling out ,didnt miss anything as there was also a huge tv screen to look at as well :)
maybe push the organisers a little harder next year for a better pass for us :)

Only downfall of the whole experience was getting out of the hall ,it appeared to me that once the event was over it was "meh let them sort themselves" out as far as getting out of the place

Enjoyed the weekend. There was plenty to see there which was good.

I think the food was nice with a good selection.
Drinks were very pricey and were only mid strength!!

The concert after the race ended yesterday was the better option... Guns and Roses weren't that flash.

Thanks for organising it.

That was our three promo girls Sky, Michelle & Pip in the photos  that were on our display & handing out the info on our club. They were really nice girls to work with.

I think Richard said he took 900 photos is sending a disc with the culled ones so they will be up ASAP. I am really glad everyone had a good time I have been told we are invited back next year with maybe a few other surprises before hand.
