Just putting it out to see what the interest for another skid pan day would be.
With a little more attention this year on driver control rather then mucking about.
It will be in the cooler months,Unlike last year there wont be a BBQ lunch,Everyone can bring there own food & drinks,We will have an ern for coffee and tea, tables and chairs and thats about all.
Nothing is booked at present it depends on the interest indicated.
The payment date will be very early as we had numerous pull-outs last year,We pay X to hire the area,X is simply divided between the number of drivers attending.
The reason payment date will be very early,is to allow us to cancel if we have people start to pull out prior to the payment date, making it too costly for the balance of drivers.
Last year I think we had 20 or so drivers and it was in the vacinity of $140 p/driver.

Count me in x 2. My wife will be able to drag her car down. We were only saying last week how we needed to go. Where's it at Luke?
Its at Eastern Creek on the skid pan behind the pits.
Its not at the drags, its a concrete area that water is pumped onto with different circuits set up.
We are hoping to do a little more in the dry before we hit the wet this time round.
You can use the one car between how ever many people you wish, the cost is per driver.

Sounds good. Id like to learn to throw around the Transam. It would be great if there was a more advanced one later on in the year for a bit more high speed recovery/maneuvering.
Maybe something down at Willmigtons at Marulan,or similar at WSID,might be worth googling for the more advanced, let us know what you find there might be some interest.
As this has been a successful event over the last few years we will be running this as a club event later in the year. As previous years we have had a BBQ I don't see any reason to change the format now as everyone had a good time. Once the events calender is updated later this month I will have it in club events with costing per head. I have already been approached regarding this event & have told the club members that asked that we will be holding it again. Or we could hold a defensive driving course at Wakefield cost is around $260 per head but I think I could get a discount with a group.

Garry, can you please ring me regarding this event and my previous post. It is great that you are wanting to include this idea as a club event, and as you know, I have been actively involved in organising this run for the last two years on behalf of the club. Lets work together on a suitable date for inclusion in the events calendar based on what feedback the members provide in terms of their availability. There may be issues associated with the bbq, but I will discuss this with you. We should also consider people interested in this run who are not members of the club, as they have already come to me expressing interest, and this will help in keeping the cost down.

Thanks for the heads up, it was just an EOI for members and readers of the forum - we have a number of people interested in this run that are not members of the club
Thanks Paul, at least 6 people are interested from outside the club that came last time.

I'll be in this Luke, wouldnt mind throwing the old girl around on the concrete a bit. Tell them they wont need to add water, cause Big Block Chevs have enough power to turn the wheels without it!:shades:

4 Red Mustangs that will get smacked!! :rub:
Oh...and skid pan day sounds good!!
What you mean taking it seriously on the pan???
How serious can you get with the HMAS.Flamin60????
Howdy folks,
I have been in contact again with the guys regarding the skid pan hire, from the outset when I asked from EOI dates where very limited, with only a couple of w/end's available for the year, even now in Feb.
The date that suited them the best, with the same guys we have had the past two years in the passenger seats was the 3rd July,Im guessing this will clash or be one w/end away from Towradgi.
I asked them was there any other date available,With some juggling they replied with 7th August,This again will clash with a club run being Potters in the Hunter.
There may be another date become available, in a few months but thats for the warmer months, wich as with two years ago wasnt very enjoyable,Hense chasing the cooler months.
As it stands , Ill sideline this one for w/ends,Possibley pursuing a weekday date sometime down the track wich for this years bookings is a much easier option, for those that have RDO's or the like.

July isn't too hot...
Quick clean of the car afterwards and it's ready to go again.
Not fun having in the heat...with the windows up.
Rightio Gasman,
Looks like this will be a weekday at the end of June.
Hopefully a Friday.
Plenty of notice for those members/readers that may want to attend, with time to organise a day in leiu or what ever forms of leave one can arrange.

I'm going away sometime in June , but would be interested for 3
My wife and I would have to give this one a miss if it's during the week. Pitty, it was something to look forward to.
Unfortunatley there are very limited Sundays free,
Most w/ends have multiple events already booked throughout the year,E/Creek is getting busier and busier
As above there is one later in the year but the place kills you when its hot, wasnt at all enjoyable when its hot.
The reasoning for no BBQ this time round was the liklehood of multiple events meaning the patronage is enough to warrant the catering company opening up whom have a contract for the track. You cant cook up a BBQ at Muscle Car Masters, CMC Day for example.
We where allowed a favour at past runs of this event as there was minimal/no other track users.
Thanks
Luke
