Title: Forum Closure
Post by: MuscleVette on June 30, 2011, 08:48:54 PM
:hello: at our club meeting last night it was discussed & voted to keep the forum going. We have lost 2 admin guys over the last 6 months because of certain posts & unseen lured remarks to them & about them. I had organized another person to take over the role for the next 6 months. Due to his work commitments he is now unavailable to commit to this position. So unless we can find someone with great computer skills the forum will be shut down on Monday. This is unfortunate but their is no other way out. We will still have our club web site with all the events posted, but you will not be able to reply to them. This is a huge disappointment to me being the founder of this club that a few members that have other ideas  can ruin what was a great asset to our club & the members that enjoyed posting will have that taken away from them as well. For the few that have  caused this you may have won a small battle BUT you will never win the war.

Regards Garry McLaughlin
  President AMCCA

Well just close it down, you cant operate without an operator.
It will give you time to find a new person to take over.
Sponsors will be concerned it takes some goodwill to have so many buisnesses support the club through the web site.

Not every member has computer skills or a computer so they
dont even know about web sites etc.stay positive when socialising together on the road.

If the forum returns as we know it get rid of; say hi, lets talk
and other car events, stolen things, to most I think this has been to source of all difficulties experienced.

I enjoy checking in on the web but there has been nothing
interesting lately to chat about

Id like the again thank Joe for all his efforts and hard work
during the past few months running the web site great job
I sure this topic will get heated just close it temporally..cheers

It is a shame that the forum will close but I am sure after we get over this hiccup it will all return bigger and better than before.
Thank you to Joe, Cpu and Peterp for all the time and effort you have put into the forum since the beginning, we all know it has not been a easy job!

This is a real disapointment Garry. We do appreciate the time and effort by those involved in running the forum and the club as they do a great job.
Hopefully the forum can return soon... bigger and better!

How I am going to stir up the Mustang boys now?
Let's hope we find someone soon to bring it all back better and stronger.
Thanks for all the hard work put in by the previous administrators and moderators.

Gary,

What kind of things does the moderator need to do to maintain this forum? Let me know mate, I'm in IT myself so I may be able to do it (just need to check my work load) or find someone willing. Send me an email or give me a buzz on the mobile.

seen it all before with car clubs, a few rotten apples with big mouths and idle fingers.

Thanks to all you who made this forum possible. :thanks:

We also are very disapointed that the forum will be close but let's hope it's just a bump in the road and that the people resposible will realise the that there are more important things in life other than
ruining a great method of friends communicating and helping one another, I know that we personally have received a great deal of help, and have been entertained by some of the fun banter between members. Please guys if or when the forum is restarted give some consideration to those of us that that appreciate it.
And thanks to the guys that have put a lot of time and effort into the forum Guys like Joe cpu and peterp we thank you
Enid and John

Maybe the moderator route would take a lot of the heat from the administrator ..mods move suspect stuff in to a folder with admin overseeing it

i am in Vic now BUT can certainly help moderating the site if needed !

It,s unbeleivable when people in our so called free society cannot appreciate the time and effort afforded by others such
as Garry, Joe, and Maureen and as far as the site is concerned Peter P and CPU in the work that they have done to help this club to
get where it is today. Remember you don,t have to be a member of AMCCA, it is a choice. If I had a problem with the way
the club was run I would simply just walk away as I have far better things to do in life than waste my time trying to
undermine something that others beleive in.
Very disappointing.
Stuart.

Most forums are their to ensue members can ask for help, when they need it, or have their say, I personally do not agree with censorship in any way, it stifles human thoughts, all members MUST have the right to say what they believe is necessary, as long as it is true.
I believe we worry about nothing, the small things; we try to ensure we don’t hurt minority’s feeling, at the cost of the majority.
The forum is important.

There is a difference of voicing ones opinion & personal attacks of forum administrators & club members by petty people.

I don't post a lot, but I've been around since the beginning of the club....sad to see this happen.
Some people need to be pulled aside and told to pull their heads in and shut up.

Sorry to hear about the forum possibly being closed, that's a real bummer. My suggestion is just to do whatever it takes to keep it open. If any of us can help in any way to keep it open I thnk that would be a worthy cause.
