Thanks Peter - I thought it was just my account.
I went through and deleted a heap of folders and still said my account needed upgrading etc.
Can you suggest an alternative site for our pics?
Regards
Ness
Not an easy answer on that one.
I do think that if Photobucket intend to stay in business then they will have to revise their charges otherwise I think they intend to fold.
Unfortunately this can happen with any photo hosting website, space is always a premium and these days photos are rather large.
But Wikipedia has a nice list.

Okay I signed up and it looks good.
You can create albums and share them but they will be public on Ingur if you do this.
An extract from their terms.
About images you upload
You can upload images anonymously and share them online with only the people you choose to share them with. If you make them publicly available, they may be featured in the gallery. This means that if you upload an image to share with your friend, only your friend will be able to access it online. However, if you share an image with Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reddit, etc., then it may end up in the gallery.
