Hi guys
« on: August 10, 2012, 05:59:42 PM »
Been thinking of joining a club for a while now. I've owned my '68 firebird now since '92, which was a daily driver until someone tried to burn it in '96. It was then I decided to restore the car properly, but not until I could devote some serious time and money. As such, the ball started rolling slowly in 2003/4 when the 455 engine was pulled out of the car and completely rebuilt. That was it until Dec 09, when I finally was able to strip the car and start the restoration(subframe removed).
Body work took 20 months, new floor, new quarter panels, both sills replaced, new R/H front guard as well as all the custom work(another chapter on its own). I finally painted the car in Dec 11, and then it was finally time for assembly. First up, fit engine and build a set of custom pipes. Then it was rewire time as 1/2 the wiring was destroyed in the fire. A complete American Autowire kit was fitted along with a new Dakota Digital dash.  Because of the smoke damage, EVERY interior component was replaced and the seats recovered with cloth inserts. The center section of the dash was changed, so I made a console to house the new DVD/radio. Aug '12 and the car is finally ready for rego.

Still not sure how to post pics on here. Would love to come and say hi but am currently in bed with pneumonia. Frustrating, as the car is ready for rego but I'm unable to do anything.

Glad to see you made it today.....nice to meet you Superman....never thought I'd say that to anyone.....anyway remember the distributor you were telling me about - moving and putting the timing out etc......well guess what ....we had the pleasure of putting the bracket back on ours so we could leave today - kept back firing and wouldn't run.....I thought of you.....thank God it didn't jump a tooth ....re tightened the sliding clamp and it started and ran sweet.....got home no probs.....
