Challenger packs the house in Chicago and Philadelphia

....It won't be long before you'll be able to do this in your very own Challenger SRT-8. [/size]

Chevrolet, wake UP! The new Dodge Challenger with Hemi power is for real. Chrysler LLC unveiled the car this week at both the Chicago and Philadelphia auto shows. The cars are actual production vehicles and not concepts. First reports in are that people have jammed the areas where the cars have been displayed. There hasn’t been this much excitement out of Detroit in a very long time.

So far, more than 8,000 orders have been taken for a limited number of SRT 8 Challengers, which are powered by the 6.1-liter Hemi. The new car came out right on schedule, and should be for sale in dealers' showrooms in about two months. We’ve seen some good photos of the new car, and there are many styling cues borrowed from the original 1970 model.

Most noticeable are the grille, flip-open gasoline cap and exhaust tips, which really resemble the ’Cuda’s pipes more, but nonetheless are stunning. The new cars are already selling for upwards of $60,000 on the Internet, and one of the first was sold recently at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale for $400,000.  All of those proceeds went to charity. Note:
I've seen the Challenger first hand close up . .and its a ball tearer.. YOU WILL LOVE IT... but unfortunately. .in Oz.. we may never see one....
