Struggling US car parts manufacturer Delphi is to close one of its factories in Cadiz, southern Spain.

Up to 1,650 jobs are at risk at the site as a result of the move, prompting unions to stage a protest at the plant.

Delphi said it had decided to close the factory - which produces steering, suspension and bearings - as high prices meant it was not competitive.
Delphi filed for bankruptcy in 2005, a move that hurt its former parent and top client, US carmaker General Motors.
Since then the firm has outlined plans to close a number of factories across the globe and cut several business lines.

Delco / Delphi

yes.. thats the same company .. but spun-off.

A few years back GM spun off AC DELCO.. a then very profitable GM arm .. a contracted parts supplier to GM mainly but with a Global market.. and in the spin off GM got a big kickback towards shoring up its declining revenue.. (ie sound so familiar these days.. especially with our governments both state & federal selling off assests for short term gains).. but GM did not count on having to fight a huge court case showing a MASSIVE CRIPPLING underfunded pension requirement(ie also sounds familiar with Chrysler/GM/Ford as they try to restructure with pensions being a MASSIVE leg chain unlike their Asian competition) +coupled with a declining production /sales in various parts of the world.. things have not looked good.
AC Delco is on most of the GM electronic parts packaging.... a single recognised logo of a quality known Original Part recognised for GM cars.

Holden here does not seem to work the Delco / Delphi relationship that hard.... or as hard as it is in the middle east & North America.    Delphi is a spinoff name from the original Delco.
