I'm not going to hear the end of this am I.....   Oh Hum!

It's official: (GRRRRR!!!!)  The Ford Mustang outsold the Chevrolet Camaro in 2009, despite the Bowtie Brand's contender putting together a string of month-on-month sales leads over the Blue Oval's pony car. But it was a close race.

According to sales data released by both Ford and General Motors, the Mustang sold 66,623 units in 2009, with GM coming in close behind at 61,618 Camaros sold for the year.

Early on there was speculation that the Camaro could overtake the Mustang if its sales streak continued, but despite pent up demand for the Chevy's retromobile, Ford sold 6,327 Mustangs last month – over 60 percent more than it did in November. Not a huge surprise, but a good showing nonetheless, and with all of the updates to the 2011 Mustang, we suspect that next year's race won't be nearly as entertaining.

6,000 of 6,327 Mustangs sold in December were probably "just registered by the Ford dealer network" to ensure they werent outsold :boxing:

The good news is that this result represents years of incredible pent up demand by the universe of people with good taste (yes all 61,000 of them!) And the end of the old model mustang which has been on sale continuously for 45 years to people with so called bad taste (probably around 3,500,000 people!) Who also held back their purchase of a mustang given an all new model was on the way (yet strangely still managed to outsell the awesome, georgeous, incredible, stupendous GM stellar, magnificent, universe stopping muscle car).  Why not add to that, the mustang due for late this year will have around another 100 HP for both it's  V6 and V8, with over 300 HP for the V6, and a V8 with over 400 HP and we will probably see the same end to this Camaro at the end of its body cycle as Pontiac (hurry, you too could have a rare collectible).  Let's face it, there's just not a lot of people with "good taste" anymore; or is there? ;-)
