Haven't driven the car for a couple of weeks and noticed a puddle under the radiator. Refilled the radiator after tightening all hoses and it dribbled straight out of the bottom tank. Because of the thermo fan I can't see if it's coming from above the bottom tank from a hole, but from the front the radiator is clean.

It's an 18 month old aluminium crossflow PWR with 2 x 1" cores.and 3000 cfm SPAL fan.

Can this be repaired locally and how long might it take?

Hi Les,
Looks like it will have to come out the car, so after you have done it take a good look where it is leaking from. If the tank split, fix is easy but if it is the core it could be a bit more complicated.
I can have it fixed in a couple of days regardless.

Cheers, Chris

You must be P.st off les , you pay the big bucks to get good quality and you get 18 months , a cheap chinese dim sim special would have probably lasted longer , did you cal pwr , would like to know what they have to say , i can imagine the bs coming out of there mouth , i think i will stick with the old copper one in my beast .

Thanks Chris (x2)! It will be out tomorrow.

All sorted now. Because I ordered the largest SPAL fan, the tip of the centre of the fan was just touching the radiator and after 12000 klms it broke through the core, they left off a 2mm spacer when mounting the fan.  They have offered a complete factory repair free of charge.

I am frustrated but believe that's not a bad response and feel better about the actual build quality.

Christ!!!
Having the fan that close to the radiator is asking for trouble. :omg:
Guess what happens when you break an engine mount.... the fan will go straight through the core.
I would feel more comfortable if the fan was at least 30 mm away from it.

I am glad you have got it sorted

Thank you Chris,

Unfortunately, because I have a mini serpentine setup, I only have about 5-6 mm between the back of the fan motor and the alternator pulley, very tight!
