True, we cannot claim familiarity with every single product introduced at the SEMA show in its 47-year history. Nevertheless, we can state beyond a reasonable doubt that this one is the most absurd display of first-world excess ever seen at a show that trades in absurd first-world excess—most of which we strongly approve.

For the man who wants for nothing, we present the Espresso Veloce V10 espresso maker. We looked it up: espresso is sort of a thick coffee with leftover grinds floating in it. Walmart has a machine that makes it for $29. The Espresso Veloce web site states that the price for its V12 "functional art" is available "on application." The sign in the SEMA new products display wasn't so coy: it's $14,900.

In other news, Summit Racing sells a big-block Chevy 572 crate engine for $14,599.97. Instead of making espresso, it makes 720 horsepower. And what a bargain: you'll save $300, which buys about 3,400 cups of Maxwell House.
